Thank you for this. The relationship I thought I understood was that moisture attracted moisture. Ground water, surface water and moisture in soil and plants drew clouds and more moisture to itself. I didn't know anything whatsoever about lightning and the nitrogen cycle. We are in a region int he forest that is regularly struck by lightning. So much so that the firefighters know where to go to watch the lightning when a storm approaches.

It would be interesting to observe and confirm that these areas, would potentially have more life, more biodiversity and possible old trees as well.
